ASO Index
App Store and Google Play have their own app evaluation and ranking algorithms. Understanding the ASO index features allows developers to optimize their application pages to reach the maximum number of users and increase organic installs.
What Is ASO Index?
Indexing is a process where app pages in the stores are scanned for keywords, and search results are compiled based on them.
To reach the maximum number of users in their target audience, developers and marketers should not only find relevant keywords but also insert them into texts in such a way that they have the most significant impact on the algorithms.
Each platform has different tools for app index. Play Store and Apple Store rate pages differently (but never openly reveal their work features). Here are a few key takeaways:
- A name has the most weight in terms of ASO. It is perhaps the only thing that both marketplaces have in common.
- A subtitle is available on App Store only and is second in terms of its impact on ranking algorithms.
- A short description can only be seen on Google Play, and it ranks second in terms of apps index and weight.
- A keyword field is presented exclusively on the App Store and is in third place in terms of weight.
- A long description is available in both stores, but only Play Store indexes it.
- Each IAP appears separately in the App Store search results, so such items can be used to boost your position.
- Both marketplaces analyze different locales, so they should also be optimized accordingly.
While the rest of the app page listings have less impact on the Google Play algorithms and have little to no effect on the App Store ones, do not ignore them. They should be of high quality to make an excellent first impression.
Since indexing results depend largely on keywords, you need to assemble the semantic core correctly. Use specialized Asolytics tools; for example, Keyword Explorer. With it, you can study a particular keyword’s popularity, daily impressions, and other parameters and understand whether it should be used in your optimization.
