App Store Ratings

Ratings play a vital role in shaping the initial impression of an app within marketplaces. Users themselves assign ratings, which are then considered by others when deciding whether to install a product. Given their impact on downloads, it is crucial not to overlook negative ratings and reviews.

 

What Are App Store Ratings?

The AppStore rating represents the subjective assessments provided by customers based on their user experience with an app. Ratings range from 0 to 5 points, with increments of 0.1.

They are depicted not only as numerical values but also as filled stars corresponding to the current rating. Within the store, ratings can be seen in search results beneath subtitles and in the dedicated column on app pages. Users can leave ratings directly within the App Store or, if developers have incorporated widgets, within the apps themselves.

Application ratings are part of the metadata that developers cannot directly control, such as the title or description. However, they can enhance the customer experience and improve the product itself, aiming to raise the rating and influence potential users' decision to download.

Many customers rely on these ratings and reviews, as well as the responsiveness of developers, as a form of “consultation” with other users.

You can find out the rating of any app, for example, your main competitors, using the Analyze App tool.

Experience has shown that when app ratings fall below 4.0, the conversion rate for installations significantly decreases. Fluctuations between 4.0 and 4.9 are generally not critical for users.

A rating above 4.0 speaks volumes about the quality of a product and indicates that it is worth downloading. Conversely, the highest rating of 5.0 might raise suspicions, as no app or game can be absolutely flawless. It often serves as an indicator of dishonesty or fraudulent practices.
