Meta Editor
Meta Editor is a tool for applying your collected semantic core to your app’s metadata.
Application: Optimize your app’s metadata for different locales.
Goal: Increase search ranking and app visibility.
Time: Up to 10 minutes
1. Collect the semantic core
Before working with Meta Editor, you should build a semantic core. For this:
- Specify your country.
- Add your app to “My Apps.”
- Go to the “Competitors” section to select your direct competitors.
Based on this information, Asolytics algorithms will compile a set of relevant keywords. Explore them in the “Keywords” section using the Recommended, Matadata, and Ranking Keywords tabs. Add relevant keywords to Tracking — your semantic core. You can also get insights about useful keywords with Keyword Explorer and Autosuggests.
2. Select the target country
Go to the Meta Editor tool and select the target country of your semantic core from the top dropdown list. You will get access to all locales in that country. For example, the United States, in addition to English (US), has eight more languages.
3. Analyze effective keywords
You can see saved tracked keywords in the Meta Editor’s “Keywords” tab. Note that the App Store’s algorithms, unlike Google Play, rank keywords without an exact match. They combine the words added to the metadata and make new phrases. Therefore, analyze each word separately in the “Words” section according to the following indicators:
- Total Popularity is the combined popularity of all keywords that use a particular word.
- Total Estimated Daily Impressions is the combined number of impressions for all keywords that use a particular word.
- Total Keywords is the number of keywords in which the word is used.
- Character Count shows the number of characters in a particular word.
Hover over a word and click the double arrow icon to see which search terms from your semantic core use that word.
And click the chart icon to see in which metadata and locales you have already used a particular word.
4. Add selected words to a specific locale
Select effective words from the list and click “Use in locale” to add them to a particular locale. You can add each word individually or use bulk adding. The selected words go into the “Words to use” field.
5. Create metadata
Use high-priority words for your title and subtitle, as these assets carry the most ranking weight. Сlick the pencil icon in the required field to start editing the text. When you’re ready, hit “Save Meta” to save your changes, and give a name to this metadata version in the pop-up window. You can create multiple versions to compare them later.

6. Add the remaining words in the keyword field
Move the words not used in the title and subtitle to the keywords field. You can type each word manually (separated by commas, no spaces) or click “Add All” to transfer them to this field automatically.
Go to the “Uncovered Keywords” section to find out what search terms your metadata lacks. You can analyze their popularity and estimated daily impressions to decide whether you need them in your optimization.
You can also see how your competitors have optimized their locale-specific metadata and their installs and revenue per country in the “Competitors Meta” section. If you want to find out how your competitors have implemented a particular keyword, use the search bar on the right.
Repeat the described steps for each locale in the selected country.
